Happy New Year from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The New Year is upon us and we have officially embarked upon 2010. Here at the Rocky Mountain Chapter of LLS we are focusing on working to make this year the best yet. We have set high goals for our fund-raising campaigns and intend to hit each and every one. However, we can't do it without our volunteer and participant's help.

Below is a list of this weeks Chapter Happenings. The most exciting event this week is the Ambassador Training on January 7th. LLS Ambassador volunteers provide outreach to our patients and support for our campaigns. Anyone who believes in our mission, is invited to join us on Thursday, January 7 at 6 p.m. for dinner and a chance to get more information about opportunities to volunteer. We are looking for individuals to serve on campaign committees, staff event booths, serve as spokespeople, or serve as general volunteers. The training will be held at our offices at 5353 W. Dartmouth Ave., Denver, on the lower level.

LLS Rocky Mountain Chapter Happenings - January 4 - 10:

• January kicks off our School & Youth campaign. Schools across Colorado and Wyoming will begin their participation in the Pennies for Patients fundraiser. We are looking for volunteers to conduct assemblies and planning parties in local, participating schools. For more information call Kelly Posthuma at (303) 984-2110 ext. 14
• January 6, 6 - 8 p.m.: Team In Training Rock Star Reception - this event offers TNT participants who have raised $4,500 or more during the fall season an opportunity to tour an LLS funded researcher's lab. Rock Stars attending this event will meet Dr. James DeGregori, PhD and get an insiders perspective on what he is doing in the fight against blood cancer. This event is by invitation only. • January 7, 6 - 8 p.m.: Ambassador Training - Refer above.
• January 8: Fitness 19 (Colorado Springs) fundraiser. The Fitness 19 location at Stetson Hills and Powers in Colorado Springs is donating $50 to LLS for anyone who signs up for a membership with the TNT flyer. For more information contact Jim at jkblake2k@gmail.com
